Agra Smart City to execute the first corridor of metro rail project


The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation will execute the Agra metro rail project after receiving ‘No Objection Certificate’ from Agra Smart City Limited. The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation will also bear the repair and damages that Agra may incur due to the execution of the metro project. The Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation has also managed to take approval for implementation of Agra metro rail project from the Municipal corporation as well as the Public works department.

The city to Agra will have two metro corridors which will pass through places including places like the famous Taj Mahal, Agra fort and Sikandra as well as ISBT, Raja ki Mandi Railway Station , Medical college, Agra Cant Railway Station , Collectorate, Sanjay Place and surrounding densely populated residential areas. Along with easing mobility, beautification and drainage up-gradation of the Fatehabad road is also being taken up by Agra Smart City Ltd.

The first corridor of the Agra Metro Rail project from Taj East Gate to Sikandra is proposed to be 14 km-long which will be partly elevated and partly underground. This corridor would be built with a total of 13 Stations (6 Elevated and 7 Underground). The second corridor from Agra Cantt to Kalindi Vihar would be 15.40 km long which comprising 14 stations (all elevated). The entire metro rail project is targeted to be completed by 2024.
