Andhra Pradesh plans to transform all its cities into smart cities


He said that they are readying a blueprint to develop all the cities in the state as smart cities with state, central and private funds and that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu had directed them to ready the plans to transform all the cities into smart cities. A?Narayana further said, Centre is extending funds for development of Visakhapatnam, Kakinada, Tirupati and Amaravati as smart cities under its quota. We have already spared funds to develop another six cities with state funds. Now, we are contemplating to develop all the cities as smart cities.

The Minister stated that Centre is giving Rs 100 crore grant to the smart cities and state is granting the equal matching fund. He said that they have lined up several projects to develop Visakhapatnam with Rs 200 crore and Tirupati with Rs 100 crore. He, said, In addition to the funds granted by State and Centre, we will take up develop Amaravati with another Rs 500 – Rs 1000 crore.

He also said that they have introduced e-governance, double-entry accounting system, urban planning, building bylaws prompting AP to secure 96.96 points and that they have initiated reforms in all the 13 wings as proposed by the Centre
