JSML appoints a Spanish firm to execute Jaipur smart city project

An international firm has been appointed as project management consultant (PMC) by the Jaipur Smart Mission Limited (JSML) for the execution and implementation of the smart city project in Jaipur.

A Spanish company named Epista would join hands with JSML in making the smart city project successful in Jaipur.

The JSML finalised the international firm out of the five companies that participated in the tender process.

A JSML official said, Out of five companies, three qualified in the technical bid. The Spanish company was selected as it quoted the lowest bid.

The firm, for next two years, would assist the civic body in planning, designing, developing and monitoring smart city projects in Jaipur. These consultants would help JSML in making DPRs, monitoring the pace of the project and offering solutions when required. They would also assist in finding a suitable company once the financial bids are invited.

It is expected that the consultancy would also have experts from various sectors including physical planning and urban design, municipal finance, water supply, sewerage, renewable energy, legal and health.

The state government had proposed to spend Rs 2,403 crore for Jaipur. Under area-based development, Rs 1,521 crore was proposed to be spent while Rs 819 crore was proposed for pan-city development. The first instalment of Rs 186 crore has already been released by the Centre.

Discussions were held in a meeting to incorporate three more projects under the smart city mission. An official stated, We are mulling a proposal to develop Gandhi Nagar railway station as a model station. Taking a cue from Jaipur Metro station, it has been proposed to equip the Gandhi Nagar station with modern facilities such as smart parking, automatic entry and exit gates, WiFi zone.
