Goa govt to provide more than 4,000 affordable homes

The Goa Housing Board (GHB) has planned to build 4,000-5,000 houses and flats in the next two-three years. Chief MinisterA?Manohar Parrikar while acknowledging that buying a piece of land in the state is beyond means of a person with limited income, said his government through GHB will provide housing at reasonable rates.

He blamed real estate developers and builders saying they are charging exorbitant rates. “The cost of land including development cost is Rs 25,000 per sq mts in a area like Porvorim but builders charge Rs 50,000 per sq mts,” he said while sounding warning that his government will not tolerate irregularities of the builders.
