1288 tenements of Pimpri Chinchwad receive revised proposal under PMAY

Municipal Commissioner of Pimpri Chinchwad, Shravan Hardikar has given a revised proposal for the 1288 tenements under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana (PMAY). The apartments are a part of both Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and Pimpri Chinchwad New Town Development Authority (PCNTDA). While the homes under PCMC would have aluminium windows, gypsum plaster for the walls for long life, smooth finishing and oil paint, the tenements under PCNTDA would have MS windows and wall care putty.

A contractor has been appointed for the construction of 1288 tenements with an estimated cost of Rs 9.11 lakh per tenement. The 2572 tenements under PCNTDA would be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 8.25 lakh. The estimated value of the tenements built in Borhadewadi would be Rs 112.19 crore.

Laxman Jagtap, a BJP Unit President at Pimpri Chinchwad had sent across a letter to the Civic Chief explaining the significant difference between the proposed constructions by the municipal corporation and the PCNTDA. PCMC is constructing a 14-storied building while PCNTDA is constructing an 11-storied building.

Removing the gypsum plaster will save around Rs10 crore. This would also reflect in the scope of work from Rs 112.19 crore to 123.78 crore, civic officials said. The Central Government would grant funds of Rs 1.5 lakh and the State Government would allocate funds of Rs 1 lakh. The beneficiary would pay Rs 5.77 lakh for the tenements.
