Vashi to have first of its kind integrated commercial complex
In a first of its kind venture in Mumbai and in the entire Mumbai Metropolitan Region, an integrated commercial complex, along with a bus terminus, an Olympic-size public swimming pool and a sports complex will come up in Vashi.
The plot is on the main Vashi road, linking Sion-Panvel highway and the MMRDA-proposed JVLR-Koparkhairane-Ghansoli bridge.
According to plans, it will be rooftop pool of the sports complex. The Olympic-size public pool will be the first of its kind in the city and will boast of having 10 lanes. The sports complex will not be used for commercial purpose, but the Navi Mumbai Municipal Transport (NMMT) will have a greater area in the commercial complex.
The cost of the project has been pegged at around INR 100 crore and the NMMT wi ll recover its cost from the commercial properties.
N Ramaswamy, Commissioner, NMMC said, The integrated complex will help residents of the node to board the bus from the new terminus instead of travelling all the way to the main terminus near Chatrapati Shivaji chowk. Shirish Aradwad, General Manager, NMMTs stated, There will be space for 12 to 13 bus stops and an entry and exit point.
The complex will be developed in Vashis Sector 12 which is at the end of the node and towards the northern side of the city.
