Government promotes tourism in India through Paryatan Parv
India is abundant with rich cultural heritage and pristine natural beauty which not only attracts foreign tourists, but also domestic tourists. India is promoted as a tourist destination by the central government as well as different states to attract tourists within the country. Thus, tourism has emerged as a major contributor to the economy and job creation for women and youth.
Spreading the message of tourism for all, K.J Alphons, Minister of State (Independent Charge) Tourism along with Mahesh Sharma Indias Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Culture and MoS Environment, Forest & Climate Change, inaugurated the Paryatan Parv celebrations on 5th October at Humayuns Tomb in New Delhi, India.
Speaking on the occasion, Mahesh Sharma stressed on the close linkage of culture and tourism in the country and how everyone needed to work on making Indias rich cultural heritage as tourism attractions.
Shri. K.J. Alphons in his address highlighted the need to drastically improve tourist arrivals in the country. He also said that tourism is needed for three reasons, namely providing employment to the people, encouraging the youth to explore the tourism potential in India and to become an engine of growth.

State Government of Gujarat organised a Seminar on Home Stay Policies. Government of Madhya Pradesh setup a Craft Mela including Craft Bazaar, cultural evening and food festival near Western Group of temples at Khajuraho, Government Uttarakhand organised an exhibition of Cultural Arts of the State at Almora.
The Indian Institute of Tourism & Travel Management, Noida organized a painting competition for school children on the theme Tourism for All & Dekho Apna Desh.
As Part of the Paryatan Parv, Department of Youth Affairs, Government of India organized activities like Tribal Youth Exchange Programme, Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat – Inter State Youth Exchange Programme, Neighbourhood Youth Parliament (one programme in each State), District level Sports Tournament, District level Cultural Programme (one programme in each State), Awareness programme on the importance of tourism especially for rural youth and tourism (one programme in each State ) across the Country.
During the inauguration, the Ministry of Tourism launched a special film on the concept of Paryatan Parv and a promotional film on the various competitions to be organised during the Paryatan Parv across India.
