Municipalika 2017 to open at CIDCO Exhibition Centre, Navi Mumbai
At a time when India’s demographic growth is showing annual increase of 20 million, and more than 50% of it being in urban areas, the country has been witnessing focussed initiatives for development of planned, smart, safe, secure, and sustainable cities –through the various urban and housing missions: 100 Smart Cities, 500 Amrut Cities, Swachh Bharat Mission, and Housing for All with 20 Million Urban Houses by 2022. This provides just the right setting for Municipalika 2017, which opens in CIDCO Exhibition and Convention Centre in Navi Mumbai from 18th to 20th May.
Over 1000 delegates from all States and UTs, from 300 cities from India and abroad are participating. The Government of Maharashtra is the Host state, and the event is also supported by Government of India, Ministries of Urban Development, New and Renewable Energy, Electronics & Information Technology, Home Affairs – Office of Fire Advisor, and Steel.
Canada is Participating as the Partner Country for the third year, and Singapore as the Feature Country, through the Building and Construction Authority, bringing to the fore rich global experience of decades in creating sustainable and vibrant smart cities with the best practices in planning, design, execution and good governance of cities.
The Canadian delegation has over 22 companies providing a wide range of solutions for Indian cities.
Rajasthan Government, which one of the most proactive for substantial urban and housing initiatives, is the Partner State, participating through the Department of Local Self Government. Navi Mumbai, the city of 21st century is the host City.
The three-day Conference and Exhibition, with the theme of Smart and Sustainable City Solutions provides an opportunity to showcase the best of solutions for the various challenges faced by India’s growing cities with doubling of urban population from 28 crore in 2001 to over 56 crore by 2021. The participation of all stake holders representing central, state and local government, international organisations, technology and solution providers, and all professional bodies will add value to the deliberations.
Municipalika has 10 conference sessions, covering Smart and Sustainable Cities, Safe, Resilient secure cities, Healthy cities covering integrated Water Management and Waste Management, Green Cities for low Carbon, energy efficient, sustainable built environment and communities, Connected cities for efficient urban mobility, Inclusive and humane cities for housing for all, Digital cities for the enabling frame work and ICT supporting back bone infrastructure, and Integrated and self-contained cities. An Interesting feature is the platform provided for Participative cities as an interactive session with those who are governing and governed for making the citizens and cities to mutually benefit through joint actions.
As part of the growth story lies the city infrastructure development and building construction for all types of buildings – commercial, residential, office, education, health care. India would be witnessing one of the biggest thrusts and expansion in the construction sector. The co-located CAPEx (Construction, Architecture, Planning & Engineering Expo) segment will capture all the leading building materials, technologies and construction equipment for structural, non-structural, finishing, building and plumbing services. Green building products which are environment-friendly and energy saving would also find an important place in the CAPEx segment. Since the delegates and visitors are coming from all parts of the country, including local bodies, builders, developers and construction entities, the CAPEx segment gives an opportunity to display the products in the exhibition segment, and also presentation opportunities in the conference segment.
The Municipalika Exhibition segment is one of the biggest in the country, with over 150 exhibitors showcasing technologies, equipment, products, software and solutions for Smart and Sustainable Cities, covering all facets of urban and housing development and building construction activities.
Besides the presence of a large number of senior government officials, ULBs, urban parastatals, utilities etc, which have been the USP of Municipalika, there is also a strong focus on private sector stakeholders like real estate developers and builders, system integrators, consultants, EPC contractors and professionals like architects, engineers, and urban planners who will be attending Municipalika, and specially the co-located CAPEx segment.
